Energy and Spirit--

In Bali, the word for "music" is a word that means "to strike." The music of Bali is percussive by nature, and it is a music that stands far outside any Western expressions. The gamelan is an ancient art form, rooted in the royal courts, developed by the people. Through the shimmering music of the gamelan, the ancient stories are told (the Mahabharata with its beloved Bhagavad-Gita, the tale of the Barong, and the Ramayana, to name a few), and the energy and spirit of the people of Bali is exhibited full-force. All expectations must be put aside when experiencing this music for the first time, but one may find that the way they listen to music will be forever changed for the better!
